Philadelphia Magic Gardens is a staple in the Philadelphia art scene. As the mural capital of the world, Philadelphia is committed to beautifying neighborhoods with public art and Isaiah Zagar was doing just that before Mural Arts Philadelphia was even established! This mosaic garden constructed from discarded items is a must-see for tourists and Philly residents alike! My friend Zoe and I (Philly natives) took our two friends to the art installation as part of a day-long tour of Philadelphia.

because this was such an integral part of

our childhoods growing up here in Philadelphia.

Has such a rich history of public art and beautifying public spaces,

Isaiah Zagar takes discarded items and makes something beautiful out of it,

Isaiah Zagar is always synonymous with Philly to me.

some of the best seasonal bites and sips in the city.

which is the sister restaurant of critically acclaimed River Twice.

starting off with some stellar raw bar options, which pair perfectly with the Magnolia Spritz- 

paying homage to the trees lining the front entrance.

the oysters with Alabama white and house-made hot sauce,

the humongous shrimp with smoked catsup and a hefty helping of horseradish

the stars of the show had to be the soft shell crab sammy

and the Caesar-like Martini- made with a very memorable Parmesan vodka.

I'll most definitely be back to enjoy more seafood, spritzes, 

martinis, and more, outside under the blossoms.

Day Trip to Rivers & Streams

Explore Kelly's Run Nature Preserve in Holtwood; hike through streams, rock scrambles, and enjoy picturesque views from Pinnacle Overlook.

• Alltrails: Kelly's Run Loop Trail

I took the Kellys Run Trail in combination with the Pinnacle Overlook in Susquehannock State Park to make a loop. This added up to almost six miles.
• The trail can be hard to follow sometimes—follow the map and the blazes. Double blazes mean the path is changing direction sharply or there’s a feature to get past.
• Wear hiking shoes for the rock scrambles or water shoes so you can wade through the many stream crossings.
• I brought my own lunch (recommended), but there are a few places to eat around. Lancaster, PA is the closest town.
• If you come in the autumn, the pawpaws will be ripe. You are actually allowed to pick up and eat these delicious juicy fruits from the ground but not from the tree.

Hike Kelly’s Run Nature Preserve

This hike will take you along a bubbling stream to the Susquehanna River.

Soon you'll hit the tributary and follow it all the way downstream.

of picturesque spots and little micro waterfalls.

I can imagine the water being super refreshing to jump in during summer,

and you get a taste of that during spring because

the trail crosses back and forth over it multiple times.

you'll take a sharp right to climb up for a better view,

and I do mean climb because the first part of

the pinnacle trail is steep and requires some rock scrambling.

At the top you can see the cheaters who drove here

The video really can't express the scale.

Soak it all in for a moment and eat lunch if you brought it.

you can see raptors and the river glinting through the trees.

Once you're back on the original Kelly's Run trail,

Take a quick detour through the stream one last

time or balance beam across this disused bridge.
